Vindora Wixom is a prominent artist residing in the Hudson Valley of New York. She was born in Romania to a family of ethnic Germans who had emigrated from Prussia in the late 19th century. Her father, Ervin, was a talented amateur artist. After living and working in a dozen countries, Vindora came to America in 1985.
Vindora’s art includes painting in oil, encaustics, and acrylics, fiber art, crocheted wire sculptures and wall pieces, and mixed media. She often uses the rivers in her life, like the Rhine, Danube and Hudson, in her work, along with organic and natural imagery and textures. Her work is infused with a lively fantasy.
Vindora’s passion for her art is matched by a warm and inviting personality, with a heartfelt sense of hospitality. As Executive Director of the Arts Society of Kingston, she has nurtured the organization into a powerful advocate for the arts, fostered numerous artists’ careers, and supported a vibrant arts community in Kingston, NY.
